Prices : Anti-oxidant Peel Treatment $60 Why are they different? Chiral is the Greek work for hand. Most skincare ingredients are chiral, meaning they have a left or right chemical orientation in the same way that we have a left & right hand. All body cells (including skin cells) recognise and prefer a specific orientation. For example, Vitamin C is 50% left-handed (L-ascorbic acid) and 50% right-handed (d-ascorbic acid). Research has shown that only the L version is an effective anti-oxidant, the other half of this product is ineffective and can have adverse irritating effects on the skin. Most skincare formulations are a 50/50 combination of each ingredient, therefore reducing their effectiveness and increasing the risk of trauma and skin irritation. Cosmedix peels have been formulated to be chirally correct, using the most effective molecule of each active ingredient ensuring that their products and procedures are the most effective and least irritating in the industry. Possible side effects The following side effects can occur; redness and swelling of the treatment area, hypo/hyper-pigmentation. Itching, flaking and peeling of the skin may last up to 7 days after the procedure. By following our post care instructions you will be reducing the risk of infection and ensuring optimum recovery. |
