What is Micro-dermabrasion?

Micro-dermabrasion is a mechanical exfoliation process, sometimes called the lunch-time peel. A non invasive, gentle process of using crystals accelerated onto the skins surface to abrade layers of dead and damaged skin cells. On completion of the abrasive process, a vacuum suction whisks away the fired crystals, along with the unwanted abraded skin particles, leaving the skin smoother, brighter, firmer and younger looking.

What results can be expected after treatment?

Micro-dermabrasion increases microcirculation, bringing nutrients to the skin and increasing the regeneration of new healthy skin cells. You will notice an immediate visible illumination of dull, tired and stressed skin and a smoother texture, after one procedure. However a program will be advised depending on your skin’s condition and aesthetic goals. A program will achieve the desired skin correction and single procedures will be performed at certain intervals to boost and maintain the results.

What are the treatments like?

Most patients experience only minor flushing and no anaesthesia is required. After the treatment is performed, the skin will have a sunburnt sensation and appear flushed which subsides after 1-3 days.

How many treatments are needed?

A course of treatments is recommended at 1-2 weekly intervals, depending on the condition of the skin. This is followed by a maintenance program in which we recommend a single treatment at intervals of 6 weeks, to progress and maintain the results.

How do I care for my skin while having treatments?

Regular procedures offer exceptional opportunities for skin with an increase penetration of homecare creams and active cosmeceuticals by 4-5 times more than untreated skin. We will recommend a professional cosmetic home maintenance program including clinical strength topicals to repair and rebuild the skin and an SPF 30+ moisturiser to protect the newly formed skin. It is advised that you refrain from any facial waxing procedures at least 7 days pre & post procedure and the use of sunbeds is not recommended throughout the entire course.
