How do the treatments work?

Today's new IPL technology delivers precise dosages of light energy to the targeted area, through a special handpiece. The light energy is absorbed by the targeted damaged tissue, and penetrates to different levels of the skin, where dilated vessels and irregular pigment occur. This process also stimulates the production of new collagen to soften the appearance of ageing skin.

What are the treatments and recovery like?

Some people may experience mild discomfort during treatment, those with sensitivity may choose to have a topical anaesthesia applied prior to treatment. After treatment the pain is minimal to non existent, similar to a sunburn sensation. The skin may appear flushed, brown spots will darken and tiny veins may appear dilated. This will decrease over the next several hours and darkened crusts (pigment removal) will shed away over the next few days.

How many treatments are needed?

This is varied depending on the individual skin type, skin condition and concern to be treated. Most people require 3-5 treatments, and others will require up to 8 treatments. Treatments are performed at intervals of 2-3 weeks.

What results can I expect?

After each session you will notice an improvement in skin tone and texture. There will be a decrease in the overall redness and flushing. Sunspots, pigmentation and discolouration will fade and pore size will shrink. These improvements will continue to increase with each treatment. Fine lines and wrinkles will gradually decrease in size as new collagen forms beneath the skin, this process typically takes months to see and can continue to occur for up to a year provided the patient uses a good sunscreen and feeds their skin with good topical skincare.
